The idea of Himmat came about from the Founder's personal experience as a survivor undergoing institutional proceedings and alongside the Chief Legal Officer, the idea was put into action.
Undergoing the process of an IC proceeding, especially as a student, can be extremely daunting due to a host of reasons including fundamental issues such as the prevailing information asymmetry, incidental social ramifications and inefficiency of the administrative system.
In our experience, survivors are not pre-emptively aware of the information they require and thus, when such an incident occurs, it can be intimidating and overwhelming to read up on such information amidst the psychological and social aftershock.
At Himmat, we recognise that spreading awareness can have an empowering role in allowing a survivor to make an informed choice of whether and how to pursue IC proceedings.
Our team at H I M M A T is a group of dedicated people that are working to make justice more accessible, at the University level.
